This exhibit was researched, written,
and designed by students in the history teacher education program at the Neag
School of Education at UConn in collaboration with staff at the Connecticut
Museum of Natural History. Our impetus for the exhibition comes from our visit
to World War II historic sites and museums in Europe including the beaches of
Normandy, France, Buchenwald concentration camp, the Churchill War Rooms, and
more.We are also inspired by Henny
Simon, a Holocaust Survivor, and Ben Cooper, a World War II veteran, and their
amazing stories.

are particularly grateful to Leanne Harty and Collin Harty for opening up the
museum space for the exhibit, for mentoring the students at each stage of
exhibition development, and for the donation of time and materials to bring the
exhibition to life.
