World War II can be difficult to teach and learn
because of the human suffering that is sometimes depicted in graphic written and
visual sources. Within WWII the Holocaust is particularly intense and
potentially upsetting. We focused on the
weather and geography, avoiding the most distressing information and
sources. The most difficult choices we
made were about which images to use for the Holocaust. Though we decided to include images that could
be upsetting to some because we felt they represented the message of the panel,
we did not use the most graphic images of dead bodies and human suffering. Click
