Questions
were chosen to generate visitor interest and to be usable for teachers and
their students. Our hope is that the
question and main image draw the visitor to the panel. Themes and stories were chosen first to match
the themes of the museum. Second, we
wanted themes that had a balance of well-known aspects of WWII like D-Day and
lesser known event such as the battles in North Africa. Finally, there had to be enough information
available. For example, we contacted
historians at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum for information about
concentration camps. However, we dropped
a theme about how geography influenced the division of Germany after the war
because we lacked enough valid research.
